Structure of the Church
the Timber Frame

Our church building is unique in this part of the world in that the framework which holds the building up is made of timber. Given the subsidence which has occurred since it was put up, that's probably a good thing - it gives the building enough flexibility to continue to stand even when the foundations sank. However the timber is showing the effects of many decades of Haydock weather - bits of it are starting to become rotten. These photographs give you some idea of the problem we currently face. Clearly repairs are needed to ensure that our church building continues to stand and serve our community.
